Spreading the Word Youth Writing Contest


The Vancouver Writers Fest invites creative writing contest submissions from students in Grades 8-12 from across BC.


1. The contest is open to all young writers enrolled in Grades 8-12 in British Columbia.
2. Entries will be accepted for previously unpublished work in each category:
i. Poetry (any style): 500 word limit
ii. Creative Short Fiction: 1,500 word limit
3. Entries will be judged blind. Please do not put your name on your story or poem in the file you have uploaded. For each story or poem, please include a $5 entry fee payable online through PayPal.
4. Please submit entries typed (double spaced for short stories).
5. Winners will be selected by a panel of publishing and writing professionals.
6. Entries must be uploaded and payment confirmed by 5pm October 26, 2014.

Two Categories – Poetry & Short Fiction

First Prize (each category) $300
Second Prize (each category) $200
Winners will be published in The Claremont Review
